BOBOBABY

FAQs

Q: Where is BOBOBABY® food made?

A: All BOBOBABY® food is made at our own state-of-the-art facility located in Burnaby, B.C. Our manufacturing plant has been designed specifically for the purpose of making the best quality baby food. That is all we do - we make organic baby food!

Q: What makes BOBOBABY® foods different from others in the market?

A: I love good quality flavoursome food and don’t see why baby food shouldn’t taste and smell great. I’ve found that most ready-made baby food does not taste or smell appealing. At BOBOBABY®, we have done a great deal of research on processes, nutrition and quality ingredients. Our products provide a high level of nutrition, and taste great too!

Q: Are BOBOBABY® foods organic?

A: Yes, all our ingredients are organic and our products are certified by Quality Assurance International (QAI). QAI is a predominant international certification firm with operations throughout the world: United States, Canada, Latin America and Japan. See www.qai-inc.com for more information.

Q: Why organic?

A: As a family, we have been passionate about the environment and the impact that we have on it for a long while. We therefore made a commitment to buy organic food whenever possible. We knew that organic food would be grown without the use of artificial pesticides and fertilizers, safer for farm workers who grow the food, and better for the environment. We also discovered very quickly that the food was more nutritious and better tasting! So, when it came to making baby food, the choice was obvious – organic only!

Q: How do you ensure that BOBOBABY® food is 100% organic?

A: At BOBOBABY® all we make is organic baby food so all we have is organic ingredients – my premise is that if I wouldn’t feed my own baby non-organic food, why would I make it for other babies?

Q: Are BOBOBABY® foods Kosher?

A: Yes, we are certified by the Orthodox Union (OU). OU has certified more than 400,000 products in 54 countries making it the world’s most recognized and most trusted Kashruth symbol. See www.oukosher.org for more information.

Q: What are the top nine allergens?

A: The top allergens identified are peanuts, tree nuts, soy, dairy, wheat, sesame, eggs, fish, and shellfish. We do not use any of these products anywhere in our plant.

Q: How do you ensure that none of the top 9 allergens are accidentally mixed in your products during manufacturing?

A: Some companies use co-packers who produce a wide variety of products where ensuring that there is no cross contamination is next to impossible. This is not the case at BOBOBABY® - our state of the art facility ONLY processes our ‘top 9 allergen free’, organic products.

Q: Where does the name BOBOBABY® come from?

A: BOBOBABY® is a play on words - Bohemian Bourgeois Baby. We use a wide assortment of interesting ingredients, and we use the best ingredients we can find to make our baby foods – always organic and locally grown where feasible. My daughter says she is a BOBOBABY®!

Q: Why locally grown?

A: We buy as much locally as possible. For some of the more exotic ingredients, such as the grains, banana and mango, we have no choice but to go to other parts of the world. We like the concept of shopping locally as this cuts down on the use of fossil fuels for transportation, enables us to get the freshest products possible, and helps support local organic farmers.

Q: Is this what you fed your own baby?

A: Several of the BOBOBABY® recipes are based on what I fed my own baby when she was an infant. When our daughter came along, I made a commitment to give her the most nutritious and highest quality foods available. I soon found out that the only way to ensure this was by preparing the food myself – cooking organic produce, pureeing it, and freezing in ice cube trays. Occasionally, I had to resort to ready-made foods and discovered that the choices were dismal. The foods available were highly processed, often had additives, and usually were quite unappetizing.

Q: There sometimes are ice crystals on the film covering the tray. Does this indicate that product quality is compromised?

A: For microbiological purposes, it is very important to minimize the time between filling and cooling. Due to the combination of packaging warm (not hot) product, and the rapid subsequent freezing, condensation will form on the film of the container - this is natural and forms no hazard or quality problem to the product.

Q: Why have you colour-coded the trays?

A: Because I am also a mother and I know how busy meal-times can be, I decided to colour-code the trays so that vegetable meals are always in the black trays and fruit meals are always in the clear trays. This makes it easier to identify and create a variety of nutrition for your baby daily!
